Good day to you Gooners and welcome to another day of The Emmanuel Adebayor Show. Well today's exciting installment sees The Togonator being dumped by AC Milan in the race for his signature. That's right AC Milan the team who started the ball rolling by winking and fluttering their long dark eyelashes at him whilst slightly lifting up their skirts have decided that the gangly afro sporting striker costs too much. The asking price for the player is thought to be around the £30m mark, well the Italian giants have offered 'just' £24m, and if my maths are right that leaves a £6m short fall. Which seems to be a £6m bridge too far for the I-talian's.
What cracks me up about the this saga is you have a team who are after a player who seems happy enough (in fact the player declared it twice that he was happy), get his attention (and his agents!), turns his head, make up a figure which they believe they players club should be happy with and when they get told the player will cost more than that they get upset, WTF? Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is quoted as saying:
"Adebayor is overridden by continuous requests for €45 million (£35.6m), these figures are impossible for clubs in Italy, In fact, the top footballers in the world do not come here [Serie A] any more."
Well mate you know what to do then don't you? In the future speak to the chairman of the club first to enquire on the price and then if allowed to speak to the player before getting your hopes up. Or is that too simple Gooners? Surely that is too simple isn't it? But put it this way don't go foe a player in the media and then start getting pissed off because you don't agree with the transfer fee. The Arsenal don't have to sell, the player signed a new improved contract only last season, so you will have to pay top dollar or Euro to get your man. It's good to see Wenger has grown some cojones as well and not just taking it from the big boys. So much so that Wenger has turned down a bid of £24m from Barcelona as well.
Now where this gets interesting is that Adebayor's agent, so in effect it's really Adebayor speaking as it's him that pays his agents fees to represent him and speak on his behalf, is that Adebayor wants his pay packet to be hiked up to reflect that he is a £30m player! Adebayor's agent Steven Courbis has said:
'It is vital that Arsenal show their motivation to keep him."
Translated that means pay my client a f*cking huge sum of money, earning me a small fortune into the bargain if you want to keep him. The slimy f*cker of an agent also goes onto say:
'If this was a money problem, then he would have asked to leave. I know that Arsenal's political position is that they don't pay high salaries."
Well excuse me, this is not about money? Well what the f*ck is it about then? You're demanding The Arsenal show motivation? Didn't they do that last season when they offered Adebayor an improved contract? Isn't it time Adebayor showed some loyalty and repaid the faith put into him by the club directors and manager? The big fella has had one good season and needs to prove that it wasn't a fluke and do it again. But still if he did is he really worth the alleged £120K a week is wants, but no it has nothing to do with filthy lucre, my arse!
So more mixed signals from the Adebayor camp. What happens next? Do we just flog him to the highest bidder which looks like it will only be Barcelona left as AC Milan don't like the price being banded about? Adebayor does give The Arsenal another outlet in his style of play but as a blogger said yesterday on our sister site sonofallgoonerdup.wordpress.com now player is bigger than then team. However if a team offered £30m+ for Adebayor would that be too tempting to pass up? Adebayor is a good player and will get better but I reckon £30m+ for him would be a steal. There's no way that he is worth £30m+ right now, he might be worth that if/when he proves that he can score 30 goals a season on a regular basis, but again that is a waiting period. So what to do, should we flog the greedy retiring git or should we tell him simply honour your contract and show some commitment seeing that this according to you and your agent that this saga isn't about money.
A player who's circumstances could be determined by what eventually happens to Emmanuel 'This is not about money but pay me £120K a week' Adebayor, a certain David Villa says he wants to stay at Valencia. The Arsenal loving player, Villa not Adebayor has said:
“I’m very grateful, I’m happy to be here. Hopefully, I’m staying."
But unlike Adebayor it is not expected that Villa will change his mind 45 seconds later.
